Friends of the Library 8th Annual Book Sale
WHERE: Auditorium  •  WHEN: We will have a Preview Sale on Thursday, September 15 • 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm (prices will be doubled during the preview), followed by our regular sale on:

Mysteries! Science Fiction! Romance! Fiction! Classics! Biographies! Sports! Science! History! Parenting! Humor! Art! Teen Books! Children Books! Books on CD! Music CDs! DVD & Blu-Ray Movies! The Auditorium at the Main Library will be filled with an enormous assortment of books and media for all ages. In addition, a RAFFLE of amazing items donated by local businesses will be available with the drawing at 4:30 pm on Sunday. You need not be present to win.

If you are interested in helping set up this huge sale and can volunteer any time on Wednesday, September 14, between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm, are available anytime during or after the sale to help box up the “leftovers” on Monday, September 19, or have a folding table we can borrow, please contact Kathy Morgan at (631) 673-0134 or email us at . Would you like to know how much money was raised by the Book Sale and Raffle or how we plan to spend those proceeds? Please join us at our monthly Board Meeting Tuesday, October 4, 2016, in the Conference Room at the Main Library. If you cannot come to the meeting but have suggestions, please email us at or drop us a note - the Circulation Desk will make sure it is put in our mailbox!

Donations welcome! Before you bring book donations to the library, please make sure each one is CLEAN and UNDAMAGED. We do not accept records, magazines, old textbooks, or encyclopedias. Please limit the number of boxes or bags of books you bring in at any given time to three or fewer, as we have limited storage space. If you would like to help us sort books, please contact us.

Library Trustee Biography: Mr. Charles Rosner

Charles Rosner is running unopposed.  He was first appointed to the Huntington Public Library Board in 2011 to fill an unexpired term and ran successfully for election in 2012.

Chuck graduated from Case-Western Reserve University with a BS in Metallurgical Engineering and an MBA from Harvard Business School. His last position before his retirement in 2002 was as CEO at Gemcoware in Hauppauge.

Chuck works as a group facilitator for the International Housewares Association and as a consultant to various companies for sourcing overseas. He lives in Huntington Bay with his wife, Sheila and has three children and six grandchildren.

2016-2017 Annual Budget Vote and Trustee Election

voteThe Huntington Public Library’s annual vote will take place on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, from 10:00 am - 9:00 pm at the Main Library (338 Main Street). The summary budget proposal is NOW AVAILABLE HERE.

On April 5, 2016, there will also be an election to fill a five year term on the Board of Trustees. To become a candidate for this office, you must meet the district eligibility requirements listed in Article II, Section 2 of the Huntington Public Library By-Laws

Eligible candidates must submit a petition with at least twenty-five (25) signatures to the School District Clerk by Monday, March 7, 2016, 3:00 pm. Petitions are available at the District Clerk's Office, 50 Tower Street, Huntington Station (631) 673-2126. Residents of Huntington Union Free School District who wish to register to vote may do so by presenting themselves personally at the Office of the District Clerk, 50 Tower Street, Huntington Station, between the hours of 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, except for the five (5) days preceding the vote. You may vote if you meet the following qualifications. If in doubt, contact the Office of the District Clerk at 631-673-2126.

  • You are a U.S. citizen.
  • You are at least 18 years of age.
  • You have been a resident of HUFSD #3 for at least thirty (30) days prior to the vote.
  • You are registered with either the School District or for the General Election.



  • Submit an application for absentee ballot to the Office of the District Clerk. Applications are available at the Library and at the Office of the District Clerk.
  • Submit the application for absentee ballot at least seven (7) days before the vote on April 5, if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter.
  • If the voter wishes to pick up an absentee ballot personally, the voter must present the application for absentee ballot to the Clerk at least one (1) day before the vote.
  • The absentee ballot must be filed with the District Clerk by 5:00 pm on the day of the vote, Tuesday, April 5, 2016. For more information, please call the District clerk at 631-673-2126.
