The Reference Desks at both facilities are staffed by professional librarians who are ready to answer your questions and find solutions to your information requirements, using both print and electronic sources. Special subject areas include the business collection, consumer information, auto repair, law, local history, travel, career and literacy, as well as a constantly updated New Items area. Subscriptions to more than 200 magazines and newspapers (with indexes, microfilm and bound collections) and online research databases, as well as a large reference book collection, provide multiple avenues for research.
Huntington Public Library is a depository for the Foundation Center for finding grant money. The Cooperating Collection consists of indexes, guides and directories on the subject of grants. Any grantseeker, individual or organization, will find information in print or CD format.
Public computers in the reference area provide easy access to websites, research databases and CD products. The Librarian staff is happy to help you maneuver around the Internet and explore databases to find that important piece of information.
There are new books, classics, and old favorites in regular or large print, and on CD. Download books and movies to your MP3 player or computer. Explore the extensive DVD and Blu-ray collection of blockbuster and classic film, as well as foreign and indie film, and television series.

The Youth and Parent Services department makes every effort to meet the informational, recreational, and cultural needs of the families of our community. We provide age appropriate materials, resources, programs, information and reading services to residents from birth through 12th grade, their parents, caregivers and teachers. Computers are available for homework, study and leisure activities with software for school and learning, as well as computer games. There is an abundant and diverse collection of books, magazines, audio books, music CDs, DVDs and BluRays. Librarians are always available to assist you. Whether recommending a good book, helping to find information for a homework assignment, or just showing you around, they are always glad to help!
Our Pre-School area encourages parents and children to enjoy reading together and creative play. The Parents' Collection is nearby with materials related to child development, parenting issues, and educational resources.
Teen Territory is a separate area for teens (in grades 6-12) to work together on group projects or just unwind. It's stocked with the latest books, magazines, popular movies, music, computer games, a television, comfortable seating, and a snack machine. Students have access to online research databases, non-fiction books, and reference materials for working on school assignments.
A parent or legal guardian may obtain a library card for a child of any age by filling out an application at the Customer Services Desk. Please show proof of residency in Huntington School District #3. Parents may grant a child video borrowing privileges and/or Internet access by signing the back of the registration card.
