Senior Services
The Senior Services Department dedicates itself to the needs and interests of the community’s Senior Citizens, honoring their experience, and gratefully acknowledging the valuable contributions they continue to make. The department focuses on programs, services, and information related to health and renewal, cultural arts and entertainment, lifestyle, legal, and financial matters.
Assistive Services
The Library provides these services to patrons of all ages.
Senior Advocate
A Senior Advocate from the Suffolk County Office of the Aging is at the Library the third Monday every other month to assist seniors with complicated forms and answers questions regarding county programs and services for seniors. Meet with the Advocate to discuss yourself or your loved ones. This free program does not require registration and is open to all.
AARP Mature Driving
AARP instructors offer an 8 hour defensive driving class to drivers 50 years or older. The class is one full day or two half day sessions and geared to the older driver. Upon completion you may receive a reduction in automobile insurance. The fee is discounted for AARP members. This class is limited to Huntington Public Library cardholders. Check the Program Calendar to register.
AARP Tax Assistance
Trained volunteers from AARP offer free assistance in filing your taxes at no charge. This service is on Thursdays and Saturdays, February through April, by appointment only. Beginning in January, check the Program Calendar to make an appointment.
